I have an si, 1.6 EFI and im wanting to drop a 2.0l in, i have searched on the forum and can only find guides for the 1.6 zetec conversion, is it possible to drop a zetec in my EFI ? Do I have to do any extra work/mods ?

welcome to the forum

what car have you got?

xr2i 1.6 cvh?


if your car isn't an Si with a zetec engine and has a cvh instead, i think you'd need:-

to modify the engine mounts
get the engine loom from a 1.6 Si

and all the other bits that were stated in the guide for converting a 1.6 Si to a 2.0

but i could be wrong i will wait for the more experience users to answer[lol]

hi mate it's a straight swap, all you need is -

engine, (try get a phase 2 silvertop)
deep, desk, dewy ECU
2.0 MAF
think that will basically get you started

Nice one mate !

Im not very mechanical minded though, whats a deep, desk & dewy ECU?

Ive got a mate doing the conversion for me, hes a honda mechanic, and he has just told me to get all the bits together.

Anyone got any idea on approx 0-60 with the 2.0l in and using the si gearbox, i know it all depends on ride height and what rims and tires are being used, but just an approx would be great.

the dewy deep and desk are all codes on the ecu, don't worry though as they are clearly labelled...
but always specifiy one or all 3 of the codes when buying one just to make sure...
your 0-60 will be around 8 seconds i'd have though, you could make it sub 8 seconds with the following

2.0 zetec or 1.8 rs1800 throttle body & inlet
better exhaust manifold, (1.8 rs1800), as the 1.6 will be quite restrictive...
thats all that comes to mind at the mo, obviously assuming the engine is in good condition

What ecu does it come with, did you ask?

Should be ok, most people replace all the gaskets so you shouldn't have any problems if you do that!
