Theres nothing wrong with the dip.. certainly not something you need to fix with crap like a 'powerboost valve'.. everything on a production car is compromised by some means.. the choice of cams and inlet manifold will cause that.. possibly the exhaust..

Transmission loss is not down to a knackered box because unless the bearings are shot. It won't make much difference. Transmission loss is a number of things, Weight of your wheels & tyres, width & diameter of wheels & tyres, rubber compound, rolling resistance of the tyre on the road, weight of your drive shafts, whether the drive shafts are perfectly balanced, how free the gearbox is. So it isn't just the gearbox that is "Transmission Loss" it is everything between your flywheel and the tarmac. If you have big heavy wheels & tyres this will increase the loss because there is more mass to spin up which saps your Wheels BHP figure and ultimately your speed and fuel consumption.

my gearbox was fooked though :P input shaft bearing ws just about to give up (i had to replace the box about 2-3 weeks after)
