Depends. There are SS5's, forged internals, ITB's making 179. that engine was like 6000 though

Then there is SS6's which no one has on the forum and you can gather why :lol:

Turbo it and you can easily see 200

150bhp on standard induction is why they are getting to that mark.

I bet all the cars landing on that have an air filter, 4-2-1 with a de-cat, a SS exhaust system of some sort and ss4's.

Get some throttle bodies on there, or even carbs and it will probably see upto 160bhp perhaps over with mega improved throttle response all over the rev range.

Then if you have the money, get the had ported and polished professionally, larger valves and get vernier cam pulleys to get the timing perfect and it will easily see 160-170. All from a 1.6.... cant complain really! But at the end of the day, they are still sigma engines lol

Lol true right mate, couldn't trust one myself, they're too weak!

Chris turboing one is very ill advised


This one in fast Ford was using a 1.7 inlet, and his engine mod list was huge, sorta prove they don't really add much then
The torque it was making was horrid though, 151bhp yet only 118lbs...
See now I'd not ne happy with that


Back on topic I think I'm going to vet these ones on eBay, if not ill get my spares re ground, will have some money left over then so Ford fair shall be very jolly :P

Whats wrong with Turboing one? Theres a couple people kicking around with it with no problems. Theres even one or two puma engines turbo'd now.

Nothing wrong with it as long as it's done right. Theres a kit for sale by OCmotorsport.

Ollie is well known for turbo'ing them engines, and if I'm right, they go well and last well? But what the turbo kit include?

They are fairly crap engines in all fairness, but they do produce some good power with simple mods!

chris theyre weak enough without forced induction, adding a charger only adds to theyre problems lol

thankfully most the weakness is in the bottom end so you can get away with it, but no bugger wants to turbot hem so very few companies do it, and even fewer actually turbo them

especially when you can just put a zetec turbo in there for much better gains and it will be far cheaper, anyway getting off topic now

It Is a little off topic and the bottom ends are made of cheese, but there are kits availabe and o know of people with them running fine. So just wondered why you had jumped to the conclusion it was bad.

think so, ones on ebay are kent repro's for £180, bargain and unused since getting the work done
