Hey guys, got a question as per title. Im currently spraying LOADS of bits under the hood (as americans would put it), like everything that was silver on the zetec engine is getting re-painted silver for that new/fresh look, same goes for black bits too, its basically having a massive spring clean lol.

Now, do I lacquer these parts or not? I was watching chop shop on dave the other day and they had lacquered the bits they had painted - exhaust manifold being one bit, and it smoked up a treat.

Now, to be honest, im not fussed if its not lacquered because the paint itself isnt too bad, just a standard silver paint.

But whats your opinion on this? Things like rocker covers, water rails, exhaust manifold heat shield ect ect are getting painted.

if you do see if they do heat proof lacquer or somthing then it might not smoke or burn off but yeh if you did lacquer it then it would set it off alot better i rekon

2 pack lacquer/clear is better! as it can resist the heat. heat proof lacquer is bullcrap and looks terrible when sprayed on!

you can buy a can of 2 pack lacquer on ebay from a company called nu-agane should be about £6-7 a can. and the results are like professional clear! but remember to wear a good dust mask when spraying as it smells nasty!!

A while ago I sprayed my cam cover a gorgeous silver, came out really well. Then I put laquer on it. It reacted with the paint straight away and turned the silver into a grey So be careful what paint you use it on, it might change the appearance

I didnt end up using any in the end. You can get engine lacquer but i opted out, just left the stuff with paint and no clear coat
