on my mk3 i have no cig lighter so its a pain when coming to use sat nav etc
just wondering how to wire one in? is it just a case of running it straight to the battery and putting a inline fuse in?

taking it straight from the battery with a fuse may be easiest, but would have thought if only for sat nav i would have thought there would be an aux 12v supply behind the dash you could tap into, even the lighter wiring may be there but just not the point fitted, Ford were getting tight in the 90's if a lighted socket was a optional extra.

while your there fit a "lights on" buzzer. again really easy and saves getting a flat battery.

that seems like a potch just want something simple, mines the poverty spec mk3.5 so its got the lights on buzzer etc just no fag lighter or electric windows etc. how hard would it be to wire in a 3 pin plug sort of thing?

You could take a feed from the radio's 12v wire. (it is fused anyway, and powers the interior lighting etc)
And obviously earth to another earth or the floor.
