ok after successfully modding the exhaust and giving it better induction i was wondering has anyone tried turboin (if thats a word) the 1.6 si, now i know your going to say its cheaper to do a 2l, but too be honest ive spent a fair bob or too on sports cats and so on, so there is a couple of roots im going to as you guys, has anyone had the 1.6 bored out to a bigger spec ? and has anybody had a turbo fitted to it if so what turbo and what was the final bhp.Thanks in advance Ash

have a word with jonosi as i believe his is a 1.6 zetec and turbo'ed
as for boring out you may as well go for the 1.8 as its suppost to be a stronger engine but then again it all depends on what you want

anyone know what would be needed to make the 1.6 a turbo, and why would the cat not be needed because of the down pipe ?

still had no look finding the parts that would be able to turbo the 1.6, so im thinking of dropping a rs1800 and getting that turbo'd, heard there pretty decent engines with a turbo kit.

yh i would not bother turboing the 1.6 there not very god lol do the 1.8 or 2.0 L im looking at doing the 2L in a year im going to slowly do it all properlly over a 9 month perod

forget turbo'in the 1.8 as its too high an insurance group at the min, think maybe ill enjoy the 1.6 till i get 2 years ncb and hit 19 in a few months, then maybe put 2l

how old are ya lol im 16 i get to drive in 5 months iv had my 1,6 si for about 7 moths now i have done loads to it i want the 2l turbo as they seem prittly rear ... do what im gona do get the engine then all the proper bits to turbo it get forges pistons ect as that will take me ...maybe a year if i dont rush at lest then its ready for wen i do get 2ncb fingers crossed

Just a thought.

You can turbo a 1.8 using a decomp plate and the internal will be fine.

A 2.0 will need forged pistons.

Really you only need the 2.0 if you plan monster power.

as far as i know the decomp plate will work for little boost ...as the inturnals are standerd and u can use a decomp plate on a 2l
