Ok, as i need to spray my XR2I skirts and arches, i read on lots of different sites about how to do it - rubbing down, primer, spray, lacquer.. But im not sure on how much i need to rub it down. So far as you can see in the pics, ive started on one arch and its got down to the white bit. Is that enough or do i need to go a bit more? Some sites say you just need to lightly rub it to 'key the surface' which as you can see on the second pic i have done to the left of the white bit.. but im still not sure of how much it needs to be rubbed down! lol.. Help anyone? lol

i cant really tell from the second picture but basicly you just need to rub all the suface lightly so it is scored as you have mentioned above useing a very fine wet and dry or sanding pad, basicly after the warter from the wet and try had dryed of it it should go sort of cloudy :) proberly not the most easy description tbh lol

my advice is just make sure the lacquer is removed....that should be fine....having lacquer on the new paint wont stick for very long


and do it finely.....maybe rub it down to the paint layer....then get some smooth wet paper to make it smooth or you'll need tons of coats of primer to get the scratches out ;)

Question, when it comes to putting the primer on, do i used white or grey. Im spraying it in dark aubergine purple (colour of my car) and on a website i was on the other day, it said to spray it with grey primer.

Grey primer.

Use white for lighter colours.
