how hard will it be to put one of these in my si 16v

anybody in birmingham dudley area that wants to help :o
as i think i may need help as i am ok when it comes to fixing things whenthey break
but unsure of doing the whole conversion myself!

As far as Im aware you would just get the whole engine, I dunno whether the Si injectors would be ok or not, but just get the whole thing and literally bolt it in. Then you have 3 options when it comes to management. Find a CULT (I think) ECU that will run on your Si loom. Do a loom swop for an RS1800 and use any RS1800 ECU. OR go aftermarket management.

the engine will drop in no problem with no mods or changes needed ;)

use the rs1800 injectors, throttle body, maf and ecu, which would mean swapping the engine loom depending on what ecu you use as i think 1 rs1800 ecu will work with the Si loom the other wont as its external edis


i could be wrong tho, so feel free to correct me :D

basically if its an early rs then you will not be able to use the si loom and rs ecu but if its a later model u will! the older one runs an external edis and the later one has a built in edis in the ecu! like the si! hope this helps and jp tuning in leics did mine mate top bloke!

took 2 days to swap 1.6 zetec to rs1800 lump, including prepping the engine, cam belt water pump, timing,clutch also done all hoses etc... now just need the right ecu groan rs1800 lump runs severaly underfueled even with fse fuel regulator and powerchips chip.

bought the crane of ebay £100
and got a few lads to help wiggle the engines out and in
gearbox was a b**h as usual, i hate getting the gearbox splin in the clutch, (and i never use a clutch alignment tool lol)

i would definatly reccomend changing the heater matrix hoses(the one that joins the bottom rad hose and the one that goes to the back of the thermostat whilste you got the lump out,
i picked up genuine ford hoses of ebay £1 each, bargains to be had :),

now i have a set of kent cams for sale (reground ford ones better material)

also removed the EGR as well bought the egr blanking plugs from ford for a quid each plus the copper washers, :) you can find the finnis code from the fiesta turbo forum under rs1800 finnis codes or something.
