Alright guys just thought i'd fire a couple of questions at you peeps and see if anyone has the know how to answer my noobish questions...

I want to build myself a 2.0 silvertop zetec turbo engine for my mk3 fiesta XR2i. Now i already have the block stripped right down and have removed the rods and pistons etc. The block is in ace condition and the bores still have the factory honing marks so couldnt of been that old an engine

What id like to know is what size pistons do i need to aqquire and whats the best or most commonly used compression ratio i should go for?

Consider that i am using a silver top 2.0 zetec engine and i already have aqquired a brand new set of Eagle con rods destined for a Black top engine.

Now i have been told before a few times that its ok to use black top rods and pistons in a silvertop engine as long as you dont mix and match the rods/pistons with silver/blacktop engines. :blahblah:


So basically i need to buy a set of black top forged pistons.

ARGH! Its just the size that gets me? The silvertop bore is 86mm standard afaik. Do the piston rings play any part to the size of my piston choice? Do i just go for a 86mm piston?



Please help :sigh:

TBH im probably going to give Ian Howell a call soon to discuss engine specs but thought id shoot this out to you guys first

JE do a Forged Piston for the zetec turbo, most go for oversize pistons which take the Bore to 2.1 :)

With Regards Compression Ratio, i never personally looked into that as Ian Howell was going to be Building my engine for me, so he is the best person to speak to! :)

PEC do a Rod a piston package for the ZT for £855 posted! :)

Yup PEC use Wossner pistons too so you know its good quality.Already got my rods so not bothered about that. its just the piston diameter im concerned about.

I dont really want to boost the cc of the engine as that means getting the block machined and it costing more money lol
