Rightho

Been looking into cams again, which is what I may plan to get in the future if I can be arsed to spend a good £450 on reprofiling my cams and fitting vernier pulleys, might just fit them without the vernier pulleys.

Anyways, head port and polishing? I understand what it is, but if I got it done to my head on the 1.8, would I have to change anything?

It depends how extreme you want to go, just for port/polishing
you don't need to change anything (other than matching the ports
between the inlet manifold and the head).

But if you were to oversize the valve bores etc then you would need bigger valves, which i think you might aswell do if you were going to be port/polishing anyway.

hope this helps

the fiesta centre sell reground performance cams to kent specs for 175 for the pair....provided you supply a pair of old ones...verniers whilst expensive for performance cams are a very acurate way of swinging the cam to crank timing a couple of degrees either way to get optimum power...

thing is tho..that price is just for the cams..goes without saying to replace the followers..you'd more than likely need to fit uprated valve springs to prevent coil bind at high rpm.... by then your into about 350 inc cams

to port the head it has to be bare anyways..so its best to get any additional work done at the same time i.e bigger valves, radiused seats etc change every seal and gasket when you put it back together stem seals, cam seals everything..saves the aggro of having to take it apart later for a leaky gasket or seal..but thats pretty much common sense
