Who is everyone with? Just ringing around at the minute, the people in my current circle of worthwhile companies that have offered quotes on my car with a turbo are brentacre, A-plan, sky insurance and i'm currently waiting for Need 2 Insure to get back to me. Keith Micheals didn't want to waste my time as they said they couldn't quote me under four figures with the turbo. I'm not going to bother with Chris Knott, etc Are Greenlight worth a try? Any others you guys can think of? Cheers Ry |

I've not really tried any main companies, they don't tend to cover modifications on a like for like basis in my experience, never mind turbo kits. |

only just seen this as you know i'm with need to insure( i go on about it enough ![]() i was with flux when i first got my cossie and they were shit for price and they wouldnt do shit for me even though id been with them for 2-3 years! so i left i went to green light who were for me at the time the best i could find, but when it came to re-newal time they took away the agree'd valuation i had on my cossie, all they said about it was they no longer offered it so off i went as i wasnt prepared for them to want to pay book value on my car which is what like 1k maybe 2k at a push for a sierra? ![]() thats when i found need to insure via the rsoc and its been a pleasure being with them i always deal with the same person so he knows me and my policy, real car enthusiast too! you cant bull shit him on spec's as he knows his shit. only bad thing ( and i assume its the same for all modified policies) i cant drive other peoples cars as its just not an option at all ![]() ![]() |

Aviva.. They alloy up to 5 mods though, (which are all under a category and then £££) So you could just put "turbo" "£1000" ![]() They were cheapest for me anyway, never tried flux due to them having a bad rep. spose I should have if there cheap. |

Yeah thanks for letting me know about them Terry, The best offer I *had* was from Sky Insurance, but then need to insure came along and offered me the same quote but: with protected no claims free adjustments to modifcations with no admin fees £138 cheaper Brentacre who I'm with couldn't match it, Insurance Factory and Keith Micheals couldn't get close (£1500-ish!) But I still need to check with A-Plan and Sky to see if they can better the deal. Greenlight weren't bad, but their quote was stil about £80 more than Sky insurance. Might try them again next year. Will update next week with who I've gone with as my insurance isn't up until the 1st, still a few companies to try! ![]() |

I'm waiting on a price back from Need2Insure on a car I am looking at. I have dealt with them before when my FRST was on the road and they were very good which is why I went back to get a quote again |

I spoke to Sam at skyinsurance for a quote and they couldnt beat the £320 FC I was quoted with by HIC. Best I got from sky was £330 TPFT and that was if I took out the policy immediately |

I'd just like to say thanks to all the insurance companies. In the end it came down to a Sky Insurance vs Need to Insure battle! Sky insurance could undercut Need to Insure by around £35 (which was a total drop of £170), however this was with £100 higher excess, unprotected no claims, 10k mileage limit and sadly they couldn't not charge me an admin fee of around £20 each time if I had to change my list of modifications at any point in the future, though they did say to let them know of any modifications I plan to do and they will just put them on the list so that was good of them. Sadly I told Need to Insure, and they undercut Sky Insurance by a further £44, with: £250 excess (last year I had a £500 excess and didn't realise!) Protected No claims Unlimited Mileage No Admin Fees if I desire to call up and tell them I now how different wheels, a different manifold or coil overs, etc (much like Brentacre!) It's been a battle as I only found around 5 or 6 insurance companies that would insure initially me for a realistic price with the turbo. However it pays to PHONE and see what they can do as once I had the quotes, between my first and final quote i managed to make a saving of £336. Sadly I ran out of personal time so I couldn't see if Sky could better the quote, but it more came down to the additions than the actual yearly price. So a big thank you to the good insurance companies for their time. Need to Insure Sky Insurance Graham Sykes Brentacre Ry ![]() |

well done mr ry. ill keep those in mind when i have to insure the si..whenever that may be, ive phoned flux for quotes for another of my fleet because they were its previous insurer,as its a bit oddball. now even though the car is an import and has been since '82 and went straight off to be converted to right hand drive. they still felt the need to try and sting me for 680 odd quid and even at 26 (soon to be 27) plenty of NCB,clean licence they still used my age, engine size, the fact its an import by which point i stopped listening. went on go compare...got it down to under 300 quid, i still need to do a bit of legwork with phoning up but to halve it in 10 mins...disgusting performance from flux imo, satan will be buying ice skates before i hand my money over to them. |

Went through this again during the week. In order of decent quotes and service. 6. graham sykes 5. sky insurance 4. brentacre 3. need 2 insure 2. greenlight and the winner was... Undercutting my renewal by price by £183, which has lowered my premium from last year by £79... A-Plan! ![]() Not bad. 300BHP limit/protected NCB/unlimited mods/like-for-like on mods still, and swapped my unlimited mileage to 9000 miles HOWEVER on the flip side I can now drive all other cars again third party with the owners permission which is something need 2 insure couldn't provide. Who said insurance prices have risen for everyone? You just need to spend a few hours on the phone ringing around and not use any price comparison sites. Hope this helps people find a decent insurance company from the companies I've tried and had decent quotes and a good level of service based on first impressions and experience. |

Ahhhh man I should have done more ringing round really but my first quote from flux was the best after 4 more people basically told me I had no chance beating their quote I gave up. I want third party insurance for other cars and like for like mod/unlimited mods! And this years I can protect my NCB so will come back to this thread. Sticky it or something lol |
