Unfortunately (and disgusted to say this but the insurers are right here) this holds no possible benefit for anyone. Women will have to pay more and men will still have to pay the same as before. This is not the end of the "penis premium tax" but will become the "we nolonger care if you have a penis or not premium tax". |

I agree that some of their arguments are stupid but at the end of the day, how will this help men out? women will pay more for car insurance and men will have to pay more for other insurance products making it lose/lose for everyone. In fact I must have missunderstood this somewhere because the only people i can see that are benefitting are the insurers who can now charge more based on the prinicipal of equal rights... |

Im all for this no penis tax, but statistics do say that if you have a penis your more than likely to crash. I think insurance should be done on a individual basis. |

Without being sexist here. woman might be more careful drivers but some are thick as sh*t. I've nearly had many accidents with woman where if I wasn't on the ball I would have been a crash! i've got friends who are barely confident with driving with licenses! they have no idea how a car works. one girl still barely understands roundabouts and once just went "aahhh" shut her eyes and hoped for the best! I was shitting myself! But meh, it'll be nice to know men aren't the only ones being stung. |

I agree it should be more based on individual rather than statistics. I drive for a job there for gain more experience than the average driver but that dont help me one bit. It does say woman paying more means less for men but I cant see it working out like that. I dont think anyone can truly work out how the insurance companies work, I tried a quote one my missis corsa 1.2 r reg. And it worked outside expensive than insuring my n reg 1.6 si, we love in the same house so now do you work that out? Basically of your young they'll get as much out of you as they can. I dont think womens insurance is far behind us either. I think the whole insurance assessment needs an overhaul because there is nothing set in stone. |

You can see sex descrimination at play. Go on confused and get a quote, then go back and tick the female box and see how much cheaper it gets. As mentioned it should eb done on individual cases rather than 'all males are the same' or 'all young drivers are the same'. |

Problem is, the more complex the statistics need to be, the more workload it will create and the higher the costs of insurance as companies will need to develop more detailed reports or they will need to pay more for outsourced developers for this. Also all insurance companies have different areas and ranges that they offer cheaper insurance in, as they don't have the same types of claims per year as another companies set, from postcodes and sex to DOB and car type. Can't win! |

Well it has been passed so it is happening! By all means I don't accept my premiums to fall, but knowing a women next do who has had an accident will pay more now makes me feel much better. |

I'm not sure how I feel about this. Been watching it and reading about it, but at the end of the day, the insurance companies will use it as the excuse as to why "your insurance has gone up this year sir"... even though they shouldn't. On top of the ridiculous increases we already have to deal with. I know what you're saying, why should you get charged more because of some other knobhead driver who passes and shows off, then crashes, all because he's male too. It isn't fair no, but statistics show men have more accidents. Hmm, I wonder how many male drivers there are and how many female drivers there are. There used to be that "statistic" that red cars were the most dangerous cars because they're more likely to crash. Which was disproved in the 90's as being because there were simply more red cars on the road. Maybe there are more men on the road, and yet they don't tell us or take that into account. Either way, whatever happens, at the end of the day, no matter what, we all get shafted on prices.

I think more men drive for a living whereas woman are more likely to do menial tasks when driving so maybe thats one of the reasons men statistically crash more. |

at the other end of the scale woman 60+ pay more then men 60+ so it should even out that end of it as well. meaning what men save when they are young they pay out when they are older. im still paying less then my brother would/is. He is 2 years younger, but same mileage as me a year. one is a Clio RS197 (2.0 197bhp) the other a seat toledo 1.9 TDi (105bhp) I pay about 500-600 less then him and mine is 3 years newer and worth more. same amount of NCD as him. |

I can highlight the extent of the current problem as me and my other half ass each other to each other policies, I won't mention which way this is but I am sure you can guess. There is 1 month between us age wise and we live in the same postcode, both have no convictions or claim. Driver A has had there license 8 years and has 8 years NCB bonus, driver B has had a license 4 years and has 4 years NCB. When Driver A adds driver B (a less experienced driver) to there policy there policy reduces. When Driver B adds driver A (a more experienced driver) to there policy there policy increases. Does that sound right? |

nope it doesn't and forgot to add to my comment I have an at fault claim which clearly shows just how prejuduced the system still is. also A would be the 'racer' in insurance terms if you know what I mean
