http://www.4youngdrivers.co.uk/ Try this

Try the companies on here that offer discount. Ring them up properly.
Try go compare etc and look at the cheapest, then go directly to the cheapest sites and get it cheaper (normally.. As comparison sites charge commision)
Then go to directline and swiftcover as they aren't on comparison sites.

Phoning companies and telling them quotes you have received and if they can beat them is the way foward

(Man I wish I took my own advice.. I'd be paying so much less :lol:)

:cry:

the amount of stories ive heard off of my brother about some of his friends are quite bad, some young drivers drive like and are complete knobbers!

almost all of my brothers friends that have passed have crashed within a few weeks of passing :rolleyes:, so its because of people like this that force the prices up :cry: :cry

but to prove its not just young drivers, we convoyed up to iirc classic ford back in june, we had 2 people join our convoy that were friends with a member on our forum, these 2 drivers drove like complete cocks pretty much all the way to pod!

they both kept trying swerve into each other and run each other off the road or into other lanes! :nono: :rolleyes:

i had words with the guy that these 2 were with, told them if they want to drive like c*nts can they fook off an do it else where, we dont want anything to do with them :rolleyes: :doh:

That insurance quote seems a little steep. I remember my first year was around the 1K mark, i started as low as possible by taking the bullet on no claims and going on my parents insurance for a few years to get age behind me (the first few years drop your insurance to a similar degree as no claims anyway) then i go tmy own cover with a couple of years experience which started building up no claims. now i pay around £500 for fully comp which i though was high... until now.

Best way to drop price if you want your own straight away is;
add as many adults drivers (mum, dad, older sister (not brother that worse apparently) or anyone with a good few years experience) to the cover, companies see other drivers as people stopping you from driving quite as much and therefore your quote drops.

use companies with booster cover (you pay for 10 months but get a years no claims) it is slightly more expensive by the month but only marginally so that if you pay annually it feels cheaper.

If you look on the chris knott feed it tells you of a few warning places where insurance is more expensive than the rest so dont live/park there.

I also figured with my first car that whatever happened it was being scrapped so i only paid 3rd party so premium went down, it was still safe for other road users and it was legal but that little bit cheaper. (i have read though that sometimes the difference is so negligable that it is worht paying that little extra for fully comp now so for each quote get it for full and third party)

I too am with Bell which is a good company (i think) but when it came to renewal i could have got a cheaper price from swift cover (i only stayed with bell for a benefit i got which i would lose if i left them)

sorry for the essay but i thought i would give it my best, insurance is a con, we have to pay it by law so companies have the power to run prices through the roof, anything we can do to lower it is beneficial for us all.
