Right heres one, hope someone can answer because i cant get it round my head lol

Ive got my policy on my fiesta, just me on it, 4 years no claims bonus bla bla

Im getting a polo too, want to start a new policy, in my name, with my girlfriend as a named driver. Am i right in thinking, that 1 this would start to build me a another no claims bonus up, and 2, if my girlfriend was to have an accident (god forbid!) that it wouldnt effect my fiestas policy/no claims?


Hope that make sense, just want to be sure!

As far as I know you do start to build more no claims up on a secondary vehicle, and some companies may allow you to split you NCB and use them on separate cars if you wish too, or so I have heard.

If your girlfriend is added on your policy and she crashes, then yes it would effect your insurance I believe, how much I'm not too sure but if she was driving it 3rd party/fully comp via her own insurance policy, then it would be on her solely.

I wonder if one of SkyInsurance could pop in to confirm? :)

If she's on your insurance and crashes she kills your NCB.

but if your on hers she builds up her own no claims.

I don't know anything about splitting the NCB, but if your starting again with her on the policy it's still going to be expensive if your trying to get it cheaper?

I was on my parents insurance and they were forever telling me not to crash because they would lose all there NCB.

If you've got the seperate policy and your not using the McBride for a discount then I shouldn't think so.
But if youvare using it on that policy then it would be lost.

But I could be wrong/other ways around it.
