Hey guys

I know the forum has been getting quiet lately and part of the reason why, I think at least, is because of things like Facebook that are so easily accessible and it takes barely any effort to post or ask a question.

The forum software we run on is really dated too.

I also need to remember that there is a hell of a lot of personal information dotted around the forum and this needs to be kept safe and secure (even if you barely post and it is just your email address!).

So to address all of this I'm spending the next few weeks organising a server move to my new faster private server hosted in a London datacenter using a brand new type of forum.

You probably HAVEN'T heard of it yet but trust me when I say it is epic. You find out more here - http://www.discourse.org

It will be totally different to use but trust me when I say it's got so many cool features, it will make logging in, posting, uploading pictures, using it on your phone (without needing tat like TapaTalk!) a breeze. I don't want all these forums to die because Facebook groups and pages can do a half-arsed job - the amount of technical know-how here is much more easily found than anywhere on Facebook.

It will also utilise the http://www.ford-si.com URL for a short while. The idea here is that we really need to push the website and forum to a new level socially. I want to bring the social side of the forums back, and to do that I can only see Fsi moving on from a Fiesta Mk3 orientated website to a slightly more general Ford website, with a slightly bigger nod to all the lovely folk who have moved onto other cars but still have Ford in their heart.

Thoughts, opinions? All welcome.

Sounds good, I love this site and all the regulars on it but I admit to being abit quiet recently but thats due to my focus takin centre stage and I have you all on facebook to talk personaly aswell just cars but I will try and commit more to keeping this comunity going as our way of thinkin is unique compared to other forums I feel.

Well I have not been a round much down to ill health also other things Which interests me a bit more (because I spend more time sitting on a pc ) also I do see stuff on Facebook but I new forum would help I think also other cars as most of the members have different cars now .

P.S also lots of Spamming is not allways a good thing That's what put me off from using the forum also because I don't see you guys any more

Yeah all on my todd with this one sadly It's mainly because the forum software is so new and cutting edge back-end wise, things like a forum conversion tool are still w.i.p and I'm not entirely happy with the results as it's pretty hard to spot check the conversion and make sure all the important stuff converts (which it doesn't yet!) so yeah, a bit of a bigger task that I thought.

Oh yeah, and holidays getting in the way too

I keep pushing for a full blown official converter though and it is top priority for me.

Wow, can't believe this has been on hold for over 2 years! Time flies.

The plan is still the same, Adam! Rather than make empty promises or set the wrong expectations, I'd rather just say - leave it with me, I'm feeling the time is right to do all this work sooner than later. IF there are any web developers who fancy helping out, just shout up (PHP, SQL, JS)!
