But not a fiesta, sorry :P

I have just put a deposit down on a 1991 Saab 9000I SE 2.3L 16v. Insurance is gonna cost me £120 more for 6months and then I guess £300 more next year (but i will have more ncb).

Trying to upload a picture of it, I only took one of the engine bay though.
Interior is awesome, It has heated leather electric adjustable seats with memory settings!!! air con, PAS, alloys, everything but a no radio.

I done some reading on it and most people would consider it safer than a volvo!!!!!

Cant wait to pick it up on tuesday, its going to have a new mot, but will prob need some new tyres.

It is a lot of car for £350 + part ex of a non running fiesta :)

nope not a turbo... I probably wouldnt touch a 16 year old turbo, the idea sounds very expensive to me :p thanks for the link, there seems to be plenty of info about these cars :)

Wow - there are 9000 owners on here?!

I had one about a year ago now - a 1996 2.0 CSE Ecopower (LPT). Loved it - smashing car! :D Definitely a great purchase. It'll last you forever! Excellent cruisers with top-notch build quality. This was mine:

looks really nice in green.
Think mine might be a carlsson (sp?), it says SE on the back, but manual said that is the SE. I think, the SE was the first one, and then they bought out the CSE after, which is about the same (but slightly updated spec with climate control instead of just air con).

The bodywork is perfect... its 16 years old.. BUT there are no stone chips!! The only bad part is a small dent in the rear arch, that has started to rust.
Interior is just as good, the leather seats are perfect, almost look new.. but not sure if the heater in them still works.
Alloys are also good, dont think i noticed kerbing on them.. but one of the hubcaps is missing since I went to loot at it on saturday...

Will get better pics tomorrow when the sun is up :)

Hi Kram - looks great, but I'm afraid it's not a Carlsson. The Carlsson was a limited-edition model with a bodykit and rear spoiler, and big leather bucket seats. It does look very nice though, and definitely a good buy! It looks to be a sort-of champagne gold in that light - is that right?

The difference between the SE and the CSE is that the CSE is the facelift version. Before the facelift 'CD' was the saloon and 'CDE' was the high-spec saloon, while the hatch had an unbadged base model and 'SE' was the higher-spec version; after the facelift the saloons remained the same but the base hatchback became 'CS' as the base model and 'CSE' on the high-spec model. Thus, after the facelift, 'CS' referred to a hatchback and 'CD' referred to a saloon, and 'E' referred to the high-spec model.

Looks like Beryllium - very nice colour indeed! Mine was Scarabe Green, which is less blue and more olive than Beryllium. :)

Yours looks awesome, really like the green. Do you still have it?

Nice guide too.. so mine is the highest spec 1991 hatchback without a turbo? :D


I also tested out the cruise control. Works perfectly :D

My brother was very happy to point out that the paint work has a few imperfections this morning. Nothing noicicable, and still al lot better than my fiesta :)

The logbook, there is no way it is the real one, or a replacement. 100% dodgy.

BUT saab still make/sell hubcaps. £15 :) Going to order one I think.

Managed to get 25 liters of petrol in it... spent 7 minutes at the pump to only achive 3 liters.. but then it magically started to fill up and I got 20 liters in 30 seconds.

I assume the tape is covering/sealing the dipstick hole. ONe day soon I will take it off and have a look. I will also drain and refill the gearbox oil and that should tell me if its bad or not...
