250-300 usually. Goes down to about 150 with proper driving though
1.6 zetecs do seem to be pretty shit on fuel though, the 1.8's are better

How many miles can you get from a 1.6 Si per full tank? I seem to be wasting shit loads of petrol and not doing many miles... Just filled up to the brim thursday, done 75 miles since, and its reading that its used over 1/4 of a tank, to me that sounds crap.. its reading near enough half way in 3/4 to 1/2 mark and ive bearly done anything.. Thing is id probably understand if i were booting it, but i havent/cant due to the nackered clutch (getting replaced soon yay) Maybe its cause of the CAT? I dunno.. what do you guys get out of a tank full? cheers |

i get (when the cars running!!!) 80ish miles out from a tenner, at current petrol prices so they should be the same in scunny! but before i changed my fuel filter i only got bout 60ish! so maybe try changing fuel filter!

Well.. i changed the filter about 8 months ago, probably needs doing again cause ive ran it down to nowt a few times and will end up clogging it with shite again.. Seems like they do about 300 per tank.. i need to swap the working CAT from the 3 door to my 5 door and see if that makes any difference.. Ive drove to cambridge and back on a full tank.. well thats 300ish so not that good of an accomplishment

Don't open the windows/Sunroof Don't have the heater/blower on (just set it to cold and turn it off.direction to face and passive air will keep cool) Don't use more than 1/4 throttle Don't rev past 3 - 3.5krpm Take as much unnessesary weight out of the car Slipstream trucks/vans When coming upto redlights done accelerate upto them,coast NOT IN NEUTRAL in gear That should all help improve MPG. |

all the cars i want r to be gas guzzlers neway so its not much of a problem as i'm use to it with the si, as i'm keeping the si but may want another car at one stage i'm not going to sell the si but ive always wanted a ford mustang with a great big thumping V8 under the bonnet

cheers mate i will try driving with the windows up depending on the weather, one thing ive noticed is that my si revs at 3.5 rpm at 70mph? |

Windows up/ Less drag stems from early BTCC. Engineers reckoned with the windows open 1-2 inches they were losing an effective 1bhp and speed equivalent. They just provided drivers with a duct through the dash for them. Heaters/Air Con etc uses electricity and they get power from engine, engine works harder to produce electicity and uses more fuel. Not sure on ratios for the Si but for a Focus optimum cruising speed is 76mph. |
