Guys,

Quick question, what sort of price would you expect for the following:

Front valance, both front wings, both sills, tidy rear arches, weld holes in rear turrets, weld hole in front inner wing and then paint all replaced items.

I've got a quote through, just don't know if I'm better off looking around elsewhere or should just go for it!!

Paul

Hmmmm.... I was thinking 1.5k but the price I have is closer to £2k.

Is that ridiculously over priced, bearing in mind I stay in Aberdeen so shit aint cheap here generally :(

You get what you pay for tbh! Its whatever you want to pay vs the quality your after. Although you can get luxky and cheaper ones can do a good job. Hunt around some more places for quotes

I run a bodyshop (very high standards) and I would quote you £1300 +vat for that lot, roughly without seeing it of course. Just to give you an idea (I'm in Norwich so no help to you really !)

Cheers for the input.

I was quoted £1696 + vat but I had to supply the wings, valance and sills. Which I thought was a bit steep.

Think I'm going to buy a half decent welder and compressor with the money and do it myself. Means I can bolt up rather than weld the front wings for easy replacement too
I know it won't be as good a finish but as its going to be a track car I can keep trying with no real worries!

Difficult to say without seeing as when there is rust involved the work can end up running away with time. What looks like a rust sill could end up being rusty sill, inner sill, sill support, floor pan edge etc. Difficult to say with out seeing at least pictures and even then you can't tell until you start the job.

That price does seem steep though if you are providing the parts.

I just read the rest of you post. If its a track car then why bother with welding? Unless its structural welding that needs to be carried out, in which case you quote might not be so high.

On a track car I would just grind off the rust, fill it with fibre glass and give it a half decent paint job, no need to make it perfect as you will damage it on the track...other people might damage it by knocking in to you too.

Thats my thinking.
The sills are structural on the Fiesta so will be welding them. If for no other reason than it'll stiffen the car up and make it less flexy when being pushed.

But the likes of wings etc, just going to change to bolt on/bolt off so if they get dunted they are easy replaced.

And fibreglass as you say for non-structural.
