Ive seen this mint condition SI not far from me. Everything sounds good, the problem is it has no tax. Im thinkin of driving it home without tax or should i tax it first? |

If you know someone with trade plates you can use those. If not tax it. Some heafty fines for tax evasion. With the police automatically reading plates they'll know straight away.

i bought my car the about 20 - 30 miles away from me and could not find a post office anywhere to tax it so my G/F's dad drove it back to thier house where i went straight to the post office and taxed it, not the cleverest thing to do  the trader would not tax it

I drove my Si about 30 miles home with no tax, but a signed receipt to prove I'd just bought it. Then my insurance came through a couple of days later and I taxed it as soon as I could. Although technically it should have had a SORN declaration while it was sitting on my drive with no tax!

Get the guy your getting it from to write you a receipt, then drive it home, should be ok then. I get caught driving on the road i live on with no tax and got done for it, so its always abit risky. If you get caught it will depend on the mood of the cooper as to what will happen. |

Cheers for the help peeps. This is already sorted, drove the car back yesterday, got a proof of purchase and was told that i have week in grace. |
