so the 2liter engines. theres blacktop and silvertop zetec engines out the mondeo's. now whatsthe difference in the two? and which is better? also how much is the right price to pay for one? |

Sam, The main differences are blacktops have solid lifters and thesilvertop has hydraulic Engine mounts are different too, silver top will fit in place of 1.6 zetec blacktop will require mods to the mounts. What's better? Blacktop. What's easier? Silver top. Very high level there and I'm sure someone else will give more info but I'm on my phone so can't type it up fully Paul |

and am i right in sayingthat to identyfy, a blacktop is litteraly what it say's and has a black (possibly plastic rocker cover) and silver top has the usualy croaded bare aliminum rocker>? |

I think the silvertop has a tiny bit more power according to fast ford or performance ford mag 6bhp or something |

£50-250 for 2nd hand silvertop £600 for new blacktop. |

eBay is your friend for blacktop ATM. Saw one go up here with 40k on it for 60 quid Very nearly bid on it myself to keep for if mines let go. Came with gearbox an all!!! Paul |

Probably. Ford might charge you about £2000 if you went into there and bought one though. But you can still buy them brand new for £600 from various places/companies who would have originally got them from ford. |
