Post subject: | ECU re-coding to match key? |
Hi Chaps, I am new to the Ford Fiesta world- so be gentle! I have picked up a Class A ford fiesta, which is race ready. It's a mk 3.5 with an RS1800 engine (stock). However, it needs a new ECU, so I did a bit of research and bought an ECU which is used by the Fiesta race series. I connected it last night and the car just cranked over- and did not start. I am guessing this needs recoding to match the key? ECU is a 2FCD once. The one that came with the car is 2FBC- but is blown. Who, where and how are the people to fix it the blown, and re-code my new one? Also how much are we looking at? I live in North Kent BTW. Build pics soon on Pistonheads.. Regards, Kam |

those ecus are pre pats, so key wont need coding to them, when you turn the key can you hear the fuel pump prime, kinda sounds like a phone on vibrate lol if you can its not the code on the key... could be the inerta switch on the passenger side it has a button on the top, it may have tripped, or it could be fuses check them all hope that gives you a bit more insite good luck |

Cheers- will retry over the weekend. It came with a 2FBC, which I am pretty sure is different to the 2FDC due to the EDIS and PATS set up right? The annoying thing is this is only the start of the "to-do" list! (Car is Class A Fiesta Challenge jobby by the way). Should be fun once it works. Cheers for the help so far, will report back once I find out. Wasted over £120 on ECUs now! Kam |

Hi All, Still not got it working! Got a 2FBC ECU connected and it still cranks over but doesnt fire up. Got a chap heading over from Passion Ford. Fingers crossed. (been mega busy with work so have not spent much time getting it working!) Starting to wonder if the previous owners working 2FBC ECU had some trickery on it to make it by pass coding etc? Kam |

Yup. Needs a fair bit of work, but it is a project. Was expecting to have it running by now so it could be serviced (all fluids and belts), but the ECU is problem is being a b!tch! Hoping to get to the bottom of the issue this weekend. |

He is up and running now. Turns out the FSE adjustment nipple/valve was screwed shut so no fuel was going to the engine. A few turns, and he fired up. Next up a full service. Thanks, Kam |
