I need some ratchet spanners, and typically you always hear good things about http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... PLPz1#tab1 Halfords Professional range - this is the "Advanced Professional 12pc Ratchet Spanner Set" for £39.99 that I'm looking at. Always seems Halfords Pro range is on "special offer" mind. ![]() However where do you lot look online or out and about? Are there better places out there? I've only ever checked my local motor factors, Halfords, Machine Mart or spoke to the Snap-On rep when he's been around any garages I've been at in the past when borrowing a ramp, etc. Cheers |

All my tools at work are snap on including my ratchet spanners although I've got a halfords pro toolkit in the boot of the RS and find that a nice little kit. One of the lads at work has the halfords pro ratchet spanners and uses them nearly everyday and they've been good to him for about 5 years ![]() Think you get lifetime warranty with the pro range now too? |

I know quite a few people who swear by halfords professional stuff. I like it too. |

I've only got snap on stuff, however the new "Torq" range at B&Q seems to be rather nice for a 'budget' tool i guess you can call it lol |

I have tool box full of tools from snap on's sister company blue point exactly the same stuff just cheaper. Although I have a couple of tool kits from halfords advance range, probably getting a tool box from them too and only having halfords for my garage and the best tools for work. Halfords pro or advance range are pretty much close to what snap on can provide and widely available to the public, snap on and mac tools are trade only I think |

I've got a whole bunch of tools in my tool box which are snap-on, but I actually mainly use the halfords stuff (probs because its easier to lug around in the little tool box it all comes in), even when I worked professionally as a mechanic I used the halfords stuff along with the snap on stuff, they are good bits of kit for the price! The halfords ratchet spanners are good, I've given them loads of abuse over the years. As said above, blue point are good too, I've got a few blue point tools laying around. Draper are alright too, they are more engineering specialised but im sure they do mechanical hand tools too ![]() The good thing about those halfords ones is that they come with the lifetime warrenty on them, so if its breaks, you can pop down and swap it over unlike perhaps snap-on which you'd have to piss around waiting until the local rep comes round or whatever |

Thanks for your input guys, just confirming where the dollars going to go, though I will take a look and see what sets they do in this B&Q "Torq" range, and "Blue Point" first. I noticed Silverline stuff on Amazon, Dave, it's priced the same as the Halfords Pro set if you get a 2nd hand buy, though theirs is 14 peice and you get a few larger mm sizes. Nice one dudes ![]() |

Bluepoint are cheaper than snap on but are still rather exspensive compared to halfords gear which i find to be of excellent quality nowadays |

C'mon Ry, you've seen how good my Halfords stuff has been to me! An engine rebuild, multiple gearbox and clutch changes, and every other job going, and I've only broke one thing! ![]() |
