It took me a while to work out lol

Back in the day Ford were king and were for a long time I absolutely admire Cossies, rst's the rs badge etc

But now I think they've gone backwards Ford don't seem to have the ingenuity they had back then and with vw making the fantastic tfsi/tsi engines and dsg boxes etc it will take a while for Ford or any car company to catch them up.

Fords engines are great atm, they also offer great mpg, clarksons words when reveiwing the new fiesta was that since the focus in 98 fords have always handled well.
The new focus st in terms of performance and economy its class beating, again.
All models have been class leading so there is no way on earth theyve gone backwards.

lets be honest now kris you claim i have ford blinkers on, but it seems you should fit some for a little while as your missing so much of fords work

Remember watching a fifth gear where the focud st was pitched against the astra vxr and despite the focus having less power and more weight (it was a five door aswel if my memory serves me right) it kicked the vxrs arse.

same went for tiff in the fiesta ST and vikky in the corsa VXR, St destroyed it in the corners and won

Sri is a detuned vxr just smaller turbo and different injectors.

I'm not ignoring the fact Ford have made some good cars just I look at the wider picture the Vag tsi engines are 1.4 150+ and still get awesome mpg.

Big comparison for me is the focus st and the megane rs. I've been in a few sts I do love them but my mates megane is something else, his is the 2.0t 230bhp with a diff and optional extra r26r suspension and tbh the handling is just insane 4 pot brembos behind speedlines as standard I love it.

That's why I love vts/gtis what Ford 1.6 is 120 standard and with breathing mods and cams you can get circa 160bhp.

No ones denying other manufacturers are doing great but you said ford are going backwards which they are not.
The engines in vws are great but they have the price to go with it.

So do fords.

I just think they haven't got the ingenuity they had 20 years ago leading in every aspect even vans!

Transit is best value van, cheapest and great to drive.

Fords are cheaper than volkswagons.

Fords chassis are renoun for being class leading, i dont know where your coming from saying they havent got ingenuity.

Put it this way.

Fiesta st or clio 182?
Focus st or megane rs/civic type r?
Mondeo or Audi a4?
Focus rs or evo 8?

Tbh for it would be none of the ford. Maybe the mondeo in st220 form I would get.

Obviously insurance etc rules out cars for most, like a 182 is more to insure than a st and evos have astronomical running costs.

Id have a focus st over a megane any day of the week but thats my opinion and you have yours but your arguement isnt to do with that, your saying ford arent doing there part in the car industry, you cant prove therwise, youve just put your opinion of what you would rather have over fords.

I could give reasons to argue against your choices but whats that got to do with anything?
