Gearing up for the engine transplant and want to sort out the last few bits. top of the list is HT leads and sparkplugs. I am also getting a head gasket set and timing belt kit. I've looked at my local motor factors for the gasket and belt kits but not started looking for leads and plugs. Wanted to check with you guys about what plugs and leads are best, and where to get them from. any other places worth looking for the other stuff? also is there anything else i will be needing? cheers guys ![]() |

Alot of folks seem to rave about standard ford leads, could also give magnecor a try.. As for plugs I've always used NGK and never had any issues!! |

I think I have all the major bits now lol. I have the 1.8 donor, the HO inlet, 2L fuel injectors, 130 cams and DEWY ecu which I'm sure is all I need. Just getting the peripheral bits now. Ford leads and spark plugs come to £78, head gasket set £50-£60, belt kit £40 ish. Just got some oil and already have fresh coolant. Is there anything else I may need?? |

Timing belt kit: Yes, cant go wrong with motaquip stuff. Althought I get it from them direct usually. Leads - upto you, not really a reputable make, so might not be that good perhaps. Headgasket set, personally, I wouldn't because it has no make on it, so could literally be cheap stuff which will just fail in no time. Try looking for a motaquip one, or pop in and see them perhaps? Or look on euro car parts, they will sell some decent ones, FAI kits are probably one of the best ones you will get if you get one as they do alot of OEM kits |

Gasket set looks good. Spark plugs, personally I wouldnt bother just because they say ford. I'd get NGK or Bosch - motaquip sell these, think they are like £12 for a set or something like that. Might be less, dunno where my invoice for mine are. Belt kit - yes. The euro car parts links dont go anywhere, just goes to general site. Leads - these are same as what i have, but in red - which is what you wanted? They are from my old work too ![]() Pads - any mintex ones would be recommended by myself or anyone else in the world, top quality pads for the prices. |
