Cars making that burble noise....

The exhaust on my zr makes a gorgeous burbling noise when slowing down in traffic etc but I don't know how/ why it does it....

First point of cause is possible leaks in the exhaust system.

Aside from that, I'd like to know as well as there must be other reasons - Air/Fuel mixture hitting the exhaust at a certain temperature? Hmm

Doesn't sound like it's blowing at all so I don't think there's a leak, should probably get it up on the ramp and have a look though

It might not be - My 8v 106 used to pop and bang all the time, and always burble when warmed up and that never had an exhaust leak.

Infact that 8v engine burbled and popped more than any other engine I've owned.

Just an amount of unburnt fuel. There are suggestions it's done to help cool the cylinder walls on overrun and this this comes out the exhaust. As the unburnt fuel comes into contact with hot exhaust walls it ignites.
