What's the best rev to hold when doing a hard launch?
I ask not to be q hooligan, but so I can do my best at Ford fair on the 60 strip


I've noticed 3-3.5 works but still get wheel spin

Remember for the best times, knock your front tyres down below 20psi (say 15psi?) and also remember to knock your rears ones up (say 40psi?) to help reduce rolling resistance.

i dont look at the rev gauge, i just rev it a bit and dump the clutch

Not sure what revs I have aver used in any car, its just getting it right without it bogging down, don't ask Mark Webber he seems to keep getting this wrong.

Well from a guy that builds and tunes race engines, and someone who I'd love to build my turbo setup but couldn't afford his service - "the best way on street tyres, is hold to use the heel of the foot on the brake rev the motor on toe to around 2k, have the clutch just at the bight point, dont slip the tyres its not worth it, just wait for the light move off the brake and lift of the clutch at the same time as WOT, best rpm range to do this on a stock motor will be sub 3.5k else you will just get wheel hop or slip"

reason i ask is as you might have guessed im doing some 0-60 runs at ford fair and just trying to get some tips to get the best start possible

I cant launch for toffee.

Either wheel spin or get the revs too low and have no poke.

5.5k, sidestep the clutch, bang, let the 4wd do the work as you plant it

In your car though, you'll have to have a play on the day as conditions will affect the way you launch. There's no hard and fast rule to getting a perfect launch becaues the humidity, temperature, tyre pressures and tyre temps will have an effect. It's quite a fine art getting a great launch consistently.

i can launch a fiesta pretty good - my ST did well last year in comparison to the others i saw - 7.55 0-60 and st's are hard to launch - as they either wheelspin a treat or bog right down
