Well, not so much a pothole, but a nice Cable TV style trench.

So say goodbye to yet another fiesta going off the road by the looks of it, due to the fact it has damaged, destroyed or otherwise affected the car to need over £1000 in repairs just for the parts alone never mind labour at a garage.

Basically I put in a claim the day it happened, well 20 minutes afterwards, I knew the car was buggered, but got the ball rolling. I inspected the damage, dismantled a few bits of the front end and discovered:

Knackered:
wishbones,
track rod ends,
hub bearings,
two engine mounts,
bushes,
ball joints,
most likely the spindle carrier core meaning they need to be replaced,
new catalytic converter is bent,
steering rack is most likely damaged,
CV joints

That's just what I can confirm right now, never mind anything like driveshafts bent.

The result is even if my claim is successful, I'll have my car written off and get a cheque for about £150. On top of that I'm being forced to cancel my insurance because I won't have a car before the renewal arrives. Quite a bit peed off right now.

If I took a pic of the car in one piece after the damage occurred, you wouldn't believe it had any issues. Just had a mechanic friend refuse to drive it after barely getting into second gear...

CLAIM! my old mans a driving instructor, he went down a pothole and bulged a brand new tyre, fair play to cardiff council they sorted it out and reimbursed him the money.

Just write a firm but polite letter see were it gets you.

Yeah defo mate claim on it. It's what you pay your road tax for. So so sorry yto hear about all the damage never that a pot hold could do so so much damage. Knew they could do wheels and track rod ends and wishbones but nothing else though. Must have gave it a good whack.
