was listenin to the news on bbc1 and oxfordshire are doing what swindon did and getting rid of the camera's there
if you live in any of these area's i envy you
i know that the limit is there for a reason im not a fool but i think i speak for everyone when i say what a bloody waste of taxpayers money jus to bring in more money to spend on more crap stuff we dont need
how bout they sort the fookin roads out instead of whats around them?

As I said on ZsOC. It's happened in Swindon and there were no increases in accidents. The papers made out it was to end the war on motorists, they sounded negative about it. Made out it could be bad. Then said how Swindon had no increase so why not get rid of them. There a pain. And I do see them as a reason to get income.
April 2011 they reckon they'll all be gone. I don't sped anyway really, but i just don't like the negative attitude towards it when there's no negatives to come from it

although the statistics are stacked towards speed cameras and that there effective in as a driver and in my own personal opinion i think there a money spinner. i would personally slow down more and take my time through areas with traffic calming measure i.e speed bumps, one way systems and traffic lights.

if i see a gatso and im doing say 35 in a 30 ill just go down to 30 then go back up but were speed calming measuers are ill have no choice but to slow down and keep the speed down to drag my low ass car over them haha

The one thing that I personally don't like about them, is the fact that when i'm driving around somewhere unknown I can become quite a bad driver, because I am constantly on the lookout for cameras, the speed limit and not paying attention to where I need to be going, if you don't know where you are I.e when I used go to southampton, there was a small road which was sort of a dual carriageway that I was sat at 30 because there was camera and signs for cameras and I just didn't know the speed limit! turns out it was 50!

I don't think speed is a all around issue, I think (as well as many others) that drivers aren't trained enough
Example being people who indicate to overtake parked cars.. Very dangerous but a lot of people do it, someone did it once when I was in a parking space, I pulled out thinking they were turning into a road not overtaking a parked car and we nearly crashed had I not ragged my car away in first gear.

But the create enough revenue for everyone to hate them and for them to be seen as money theifs.

how right you are yeah they are there for a reason but what a waste of money they are. i think that sometimes they can cause more accidents then save them. if someone dont no the area and brakes a bit sharp then someone who aint concentrating or a bit up your ass can hit ya and at any speed it is a nasty shunt but at 30 and above its a bit dangerous. to the people who are getting rod of them.

round by me some ppl have set fire to them and painted some black have that

One sketchy rich fellow had a Es'cos and went through one at 110mph went back to it and put a big Stihl disc cutter through the middle of it

i dont think it will make much difference anyway if they are gone i got flashed and never got anything from it and my grandad has been flashed bout 8 times and been fined once.....

not much of a success rate really lol

its been in the papers in essex too getting rid of the cameras, but here we got the police interceptors with scoobys ,evos and st's and the areas where police helicopters can track a cars speed over head as well

The problem is you never know which camera's have film in them.

And once they are removed/deactivated/destroyed, who's going to catch you speeding? The coppers sitting in a van half hidden by a bush and you won't even realise...

I rarely speed. When I do give it a bootful, it's usually in a place where the risks are as minimal as possible. But you will face more chance of getting done for doing 46 in a 40 with speed camera's gone...

iv seen plenty of them vans about, sometimes i been sure i was a few mph over but never heard out so i must of been ok, but its also at there descression whether they get you done or not depending whether you look like a repeat offender. I was driving in my van so not to bad but if i was in my car . . . .

If there in a van though they set a limit. If you over it. Fined. I see your poin with thy. Buy whenever police have been half in a bush, people flash to let you know, the copper is nomally visible before you get gunned as they have to be.
There is (apparently) the loophole with speed cameras due to their expiry date, you can ask to see the photos an by law they can't do anything until you've seen them.. Tell them they didn't arrive and by then the expiry is up my friend say hi brother does that..

They're not always as lawful as you may expect them to be. And what if nobody is driving in the opposite direction to flash you? It's a bit risky. At least with speed camera's, you know where they are most the time, they're not hard to spot, and you can slow down, get through them, then do what the road and conditions allow. With the camera's in operation, the cops don't spend as much time as they could/should do catching speeders. I can just see that with the eradication of camera's, we're all a lot more likely to get caught speeding. It's not all as rosey as it sounds!

Yeah theres positives and negatives,
Lets just hope the police decide they can't be arsed to start catching people out more and just get on like they have been
I would spot those ones in the pictures, its the bikes that sit on a verge and gun you as you come over a hill or around a corner that are the bastards, but hey, there all still kicking around anyway, so why not rid of one thing anyway as there always gonna sit there with their vans and bikes.

Most of them look like work vans from behind, thats how it becomes very easy to get caught .
