Also is there something you have to do with the throttle linkage? ye some ppl change them for the 1.6 ones basicly swap them over just b carefull when u take the oil pump of coz u can brake the spindle its attached to (ie the crank ) some ppl just leave the pump on and just get a smaller oil filter oh yer a bit ov a tip make sure that the sockets ur using are on properly, it might sound a bit silly but there are a fue ppl thats rounded of the bolts good luck ![]() |

Ill leave the mondeo pump on then and use a baby filter, got one here anyway. It shouldnt matter as i plan to change the oil every 5k or so once its in, i want this fiesta to stay away from the scrapyard for another 2 years at least ![]() Round here, turbo boxes are hard to come buy, if i use a turbo box what clutch do i use? Will it still mate up to the zetec mounting holes on the gearbox? Do i use a 1.6 flywheel ? What im thinking of doing is just buying every part new that i have to, im going to buy new - Starter Motor Alternator Waterpump Alternator Belt Cambelt Kit Other bits which i will fetch from the scrapyard - Sump and pick up pipe Power Steering Pump Flywheel Ideally id like to build the engine complete on a stand, so its ready to drop in, or buy another car for a runabout, but i think it would be less space and cheaper to pick up the few 1.6 bits i need from the scrapyard? I need my car for work as i travel 40 miles a day adn its not on a bus route or nothing so ill be stuck without my motor ! If anyone has microcat could they send us a copy or look up prices for me for these Starter Motor Alternator Waterpump Alternator Belt Cambelt Kit Thanks |

Use the 1.6 flywheel. How old is the clutch your currently running. While your there you could get an uprated 1.6 clutch from AP, Diamond Black etc. |

Would it be okay to use a 1.8 diesel gearbox or are the ratios not good on these? Would be a lot easier to get hold of than a S2 or RS1800 item you see.. ![]() |

Don't diesels redline at something like 4000rpm though?? If you keep your 1.6 gearbox (I am) you'll get better acceleration but a top speed of around 125mph. If you put say an RS1800 gearbox in you'll get around 140mph. Here is a list of parts I got for my conversion: 1.8 inlet manifold and gasket from Zetec Escort Engine from Mk2 2.0 Mondeo (better than Mk1 as fixed design fault) ECU (DEEP) from Mk1 2.0 Throttle Body from 2.0 MAF Sensor from 2.0 Oil filter (from 1.6 CVH as it’s shorter) Oil 5W/30 (5 litres) Coolant (7 litres) Cambelt and tensioners kit for 2.0 New 1.6 waterpump Fiesta diesel gearbox mounts (stronger, from 1.8 diesel) Exhaust manifold gasket I think that was it. |

This diesel lark is tosh. The ratios might be longer or something, but they're crap and have no LSD in them. Buy a Escort Turbo box, you'll pay more but would you rather pay more and have traction or buy a ganky diesel box and light the wheels up everytime you want to put your foot down and go. Why cant you get turbo boxes? Where do you live? Try http://www.passionford.com they have a lot of Escort owners that frequently break their cars, so there might be one going there. Or Ebay is another good place. You use the usual starter with the turbo box too, as its exactly the same. |

Everyones after 150 - 200 for them and most need rebuilds, gets a bit worrying seeing the age some of them are and that theyve spent most there life on a turbo. Id rather look out for a 1.8 gearbox to be honest, off a escort or xr2i 16v/RS1800, the 1.6 box doesnt seem to drive as if it can cope with the 1.6 to be honest revs really high in 5th and im only doing around 70. ![]() ![]() Just going to fetch the lump ![]() |

high revs - zetec = torque in 5th gear!! engine = not going into a fez thats lowered 40mm !! delivered to your door for £55. or you can pickup in a vehicle with more ground clearance! |
