Post subject: | A week off work... |
I'm using up my holiday for this year so i'm off all this week. So I thought i'd get the Black Bitch sorted out. As some of you lot may know (and experienced) my Si's wheels scrub exsessively. So much so that I dread driving the old gal. Well now I'd thought i'd take some action and see if I can resolve this problem. So for the past two days i've been giving a hand at the garage where thewy've been trying to sort out my problem. Here's a log of what we did; 1. Taken to a nearby wheel alignment specialist for wheel alignment and analysis. 2. This resulted in them noticing a problem with my rear axle - it was bent and was possibly the cause of the rubbing. So it just so happens that my garage were also breaking another Si, so we deicded to 'borrow' the axle from that to see if it cured it. So after a long, long struggle to get it removed, put on and re-aligned, the old gal still rubbed, but not as bad. 3. So after many scratched heads later we decided to get Mr Anglegrinder and Mrs' Arch to meet each other, so after a couple of hours later I took her for a date with a roundabout and the slag still rubbed. 4. The guy at the garage rang the top wheel bloke at our local Carnoisseur store and explained the problem. Apparantly these Mondy rims come in two different offsets so there may be a chance that i've got wheels with two different offsets on them (knowing my luck it would be true). So we had a good look at the rims and were all saying the same offset. 5. After noticing that I had a set of 5mm spacers on the car my mate said ''Why have you got them spacers on there for?'' so I replied ''So that the wheels clear the shocks'' to which he replied ''You don't need them (as he's worked on countless Fiesta's with these wheels on before and never seen spacers on them) So we decided to remove the spacers and see what happens. So took the car out to meet the quality pothole ridden roads of Bedford and to my amazement the scrubbing had dramaticly reduced. So went back to the garage and told them the good news, and there was a sigh of relief all round. Also want to big up this garage (Premier Tyres and Exhausts) they will go to extreme lengths help you out and sort out your problems and are really top guys. I really cant reccommend them enough. Now i think they are glad to see the back of me. So the morel of the story here kids is: The simplest thought can sometimes be the soloution to what seems to be a complicated problem. Anyway sorry to bore you all, i'm extremely bored nad though i'd share it with you all. Paul. |

If you find a good garage, you'll always go back. Customer service is paramount to keeping, and attaining, customers. It's said that for every bad customer service someone has, it affects 10 other people, who will then not shop/buy from. So it's in business' own interests to be friendly and be good at what they do ![]() |
