tax is out end of this month. insurance follows 6 days later. some may know im gona SORN it and whiz it in my grannies garage and go mad on it until i can afford insurance ![]() BIG question is, do i get it mot'd or not? for some silly reason i had it in my head that i have to, but i was thinking it could be off the road for a good few months so instead of wasting money, i could get it done when i can afford insurance? i understand you need an MOT to be able to drive it but im sure i can get it to the MOT centre by perhaps getting sum black insulation tape on the reg. plate ![]() need advice asap though as times ticking away! thanks in advance chaps. ben |

Its fine to drive it to its MOT test station without one, I wouldn't bother until you get it back on the road. |

provided your car is insured. and booked in at a testing station its perfectly legal to drive it on the public highway to its test appointment. but point to point..i.e no stopping off in the middle to do some shopping. |

Insurance don't ask you about MOT on your car as far as i know, its your car, you sort it or get the fines. But yeah Ditto Percy and Jam, Don't bother, Sort the car out, book it in then you can drive it to the Test station |

all valid points but my dad was telling me without an MOT it means no tax, and it is very easy to get clocked by the police due to many of them having a special computer. he said you have to therefore get it on a trailor to the test centre? |

I drove around in my old micra for like two weeks without MOT and then we realised.. then dad booked it in for the MOT and drove it up and half way he got pulled for no MOT, but was let off on his way when he told them he was going to the test centre. Don't worry about it lol |

when you book it in let the garage know its no tax and they will make sure your covered. you can insure a rotted mess on a drive way that hasnt moved for years if you want, it doesnt matter whether it has mot or tax, insurance is insurance ![]() |
