hey everyone, next year as part of my foundation course at uni i can do a project to last me the final year of my coarse. so obviously i have chosen to do a mk3 :)

my initial ideas are:
1. re-build and tune RS Turbo
2. get a rs turbo engine and put in any shell
3. tuned N/A 2.0 zetec
3. or if im feeling like i want to push the boat out.. 2.0/2.1 turbo zetec :) ??? or ZVH..?

ive been reading up alot about pritty much all of these and have a few issues with cost/time etc for either of them.

zetec turbo would be very expensive for me.. especially to insure after, but would be good fun.

tuned N/A zetec would be a slightly simpler project to grasp and i could insure it after as a daily driver... maybe

but ive always wanted boooost!! get a rs turbo lump, possibly uprate turbo, cams and chipped etc etc. but unsure whether to re-shell it or use existing shell (but then again it may cost more)

what are your opinions guys??? detailed help if you can be bothered to write as much as i have lol

Re-build and tune an rs turbo imo mate. Then at the end of it you will have an awesome classic car which is a genuine rs badged ford rather than just a hybrid of some sort.

I might be abit biased tho :halo: :lol:

ZVH can be pretty cheap as its basically an RS turbo with zetec bottom end, but there is a lot of headwork and if you blow the head it a problem.

A cheap zetec turbo can be done on a 1.8 with a decomp plate.

1.8 zetec turbo sounds good, are the pistons semi forge :S ?? anyone on here who has done it i can ask for some advice?

hmmmm v6.. not that experienced lol

its not a proper uni coarse 2bh.. its a degree at the college i went to, so i live at home (no halls to pay for) and because its at the college the fees are half the price. plus my insurance went down sooo much this year :) :) a few quid to play around with lol

id go for the rs turbo matey easiest simplest thing to do zetec turbo or zvh aint as cheap as people make out an v6 is just stupid :doh: too heavy for starters nevermind space wiring etc etc

why not 2.0 a mk3, and t/b it? with the info posted up on here somewhere, you can do it all for £800 or less, if you know what your doing, which by the sounds of it you do. unusual , with a beasty induction noise :D
