is it possible to run a zetec engine on a single carb? and still use hcs wiring loom? as well as using a manual choke? if not what needs to be done? i like to stick to carb route. im not really into big power figures. just enough to have fun and put a smile on my face.

well as all zetecs run on fuel injection, i highly doubt it carbs on a zetec needs different management, and thats more then one

I take it your trying to keep a conversion as simple as possible. It could be run on a single carb it was big enough, but something from an HCS just isnt going to be enough ! You would have issue like coilpack rather than a dizzy, and with no way to power it from the origianl loom your not going to be going far. In all honesty, you would create more work for yourself by trying to do this, than just swapping everything over HTH |

agreed with above....for the amount of work that involves...you might as well use the zetec loom and ecu with the fuel injection and that way you wont be chopping wiring and metering wires to work out what goes where altho if its a hcs in a fiesta...past '89 (mk3 onwards) all had edis and coil packs.....still more hassle than its worth imo. ok what about zetec on twin carbs with management, would i still need zetec loom? i dont really want to go fuel injection, im old skool and would i need si/xr fuel tank either way? thanks for your replies

zetec on carbs can be done quite easily all you need is an esc unit and loom from an old carbd cvh engine |

cool i have a think! one more question, how much gains would i expect from 1600 zetec, 1800 zetec with 130 cams and 2l zetec, just bog standard zetec with twin carbs bolted on. thanks

Fit some bike carbs on it with the jets made bigger. Run it on an ESC loom. Job done. Should see 140 at a guess. |
