This is what happened last night. I got a phone call off my mom, telling me that somebody had crashed into her parked up fiesta. So me and the missus shoot over to my house only to find this:
Now I know its nothing major serious, but it gets a bit interesting. Obviously you can see the van is plastered with the company name and telephone numbers. So what does the driver do? Leave it, locked up, but doesnt bother to try and find out who's car he's gone into. His missus was with him who also left. After the bang, people come out, including my mom, but because the damage was on the other side of the car, she doesnt notice it, unti la neighbour comes up and asks if it was her car, and shows her. This neighbour was speaking to the couple in the Astra van, and said they werent drunk, but the driver claimed his wheel come off whilst driving and hence why he went into my moms car.
So while my mom is looking at the damage, the driver and missus have casually walked off, without seeing who's car they hit or trying to sort something out. Now forgive me for being a bit biased, but doesnt that look a bit suspiscious? Not to mention leaving the scene of an accident.
Last night, it took me about an hour to get through to the boss who's mobile number was on the van. He is on his way round now, having requested the police arent involved and he said he'll pay for any damage. My moms car is only a Ghia, but she needs it for work. Paid ?200 for it, but its valued on the insurance at ?500. The drivers door wont open, the wing is knackered as you can see, and the passenger side door is also very stiff now. Those are tyre marks going UP the wing The wheels a bit knackered too
Having spoke to the boss of the company today, who is now coming here, he said the driver now told him that he hit the kerb on the other side of the road, which threw him into the Fiesta, and his girlfriend hit her head on some ladders that were in the back, so they went to hospital which is why they left. First off, his story has changed. Second, there is a cul de sac directly opposite so there is NO kerb opposite our car. Thirdly, if there were injuries at the scene of an accident, why leave it? Why not call an ambulance having just lost your transport to the hospital?
Strange.
I will update you after I get the visit from the boss shortly. Sorry for the essay, just needed to get it down in writing
