Im going to go and look at a modded fiesta mk2 after the weekend and where wondering if there is anything to particularly look out for and how much its worth. Also what sort of hp it should be putting out if the engines in half decent nick?

It started life out as a 1.0 but now has a 1.6 CVH engine with a stage 2 ported and polished head, low compression pistons, 4 branch manifold, piper high lift cam, single weber carb and straight through exhaust, the rear of the car is stripped out.

Apparently the only rust on it was on the doors which has been sorted, has most of its history and at least 6 months MOT but no Tax.

First off, welcome to the forum

isecondly m not to sure on the price you should be paying for one, things to look out for are the obvious rust spots, arches sills, check under the carpets aswell for any rust on the floorpan aswell! if it has a sunroof open it and check for rust also

engine: the 1.6 cvh im guessing is from an xr2i? if so then standerd there 110 bhp, if its an xr2 1.6 engine then there 94bhp standerd i think but i wouldnt want to say how much bhp the mods woul have given

also spotted the mgb gt in the sig i had a 74 one also the rents had a 79 one in that same blue!

My personal opinion on buying a modified car, is proceed with caution, as unless the work has been carried out by a reputable (sp?) company with proof, that you can confirm, as you wont know what workmanship has gone into it, as lets face it people do, do some bodging.

Whys it got low comp pistons in a N/a engine?

i had a mk2 and loved it... rust check everywhere boot floor, sills, inner wings, does it have a sunroof? as mk2 fiestas with sunroofs rot a lot more
