Great idea Ry, sorry I am no use in the prices of things, but I know of a certain person who wants her 106 interior done.. as its half leather and wants it to be full leather instead of the crappy stuff in the middle

I'm just posting to get something possibly going in the way of interior retrims. My other half Fiona has recently graduated from uni in Fashion and Costume at the start of the the year. She's a dab hand with the old needle and thread. Infact without boasting, she's amazing. Basically I'm asking you all what you would expect to pay for a service where she can retrim your seats and doorcards in the material of your choice be it leather, alacantra, suede etc. Infact she could even do repairs to an extent, and possibly things like flocked dashes too. Of course depending on seat sizes and styles the prices would slightly vary, but what would people expect to pay for these types of service? seat retrim with doorcards in most fabrics and materials. flocked dash and possibly pillar trims etc repair of holes/stains/smells. basically i want to be able to offer a service that undercuts everyone else and offers brilliant hand made quality. same the mrs has a 106 also but has the quicksilver seats! i think she would go for a retrim in leather and suede in the middle like the gti seats only theyde be spanking new! as i guide line price wot would you do for the front seats, rear bench and the doorcards for? as it may be cheaper than sourcing a set of full gti interior if so then you have the up pal! i can send the seats via corrier from work for a small price! where are you based for collection/delivery?

Well we're still in the process of it all at the minute, she needs to look into what specialised equipment she'd need for instance, like leather, etc as well. I think possibly for her first sets of seats we may actually buy a set outselves of say, 106 seats, do them up to the most common demand, and then sell on an exchange basis for your old ones and go from there. 106 seats would be ideal though too as they aren't huge. We still need to price up the materials costs as well. Though someone will pretty much be getting brand new seats as padding will be new if it's worn, metal parts will be refurbed if needed etc. I just want to spark some interest with it all really as I think enough people would love to change parts of their interior with a quality new style. We're based 10 mins from leicestershire/derbyshire/staffordshire. basically in the middle so a nice central location to arrange collections too when she's started. |

if i can get the full interior upto you would you be willing to use the interior as a demo to show wot you can do and the quality! |

Yeah I don't see why not. I'll drop you a pm when we've sorted out the material costs, equipment and so on. My dash is coming out soon as i need to replace my heater matrix and speedo cable so I'll see if she can flock that so people can also see the quality of it.

Sounds good, especially if you she is a dab hand Cost is a good point to pick up on. Had a look into having some work done by a chap in yorkshire, and it was a couple of grand to have my Monza decked out in leather

ry your missus might be my saviour i need my door cards either repaired or retrimed and my drivers seat bolster thingy if i got some pic's would she be able to have a look and see what was the best course of action? ps. do i get moderator discount

Well she's back from cardiff in a couple of days. Leather can be a pricey material, and with the type it was it could of required the use of special stitching using a heavy duty machine, all those things would of probably bumped costs up but a couple of grand is a lot of money. Of course all seats are designed in the same exact way so that could be a factor. Still, a couple of K  Once she's back we'll have a word with a few suppliers, see what kind of standard looking leather we can get, and for what price. As for flocking, im looking into what machine to get. some are so expensive though!
