Iam gonna have a "rust day". Once you guys have posted all the typical areas youve found on your own motors, iam gonna go round and check em all and see how bad mine is. |

under front bumper on the bottom valance! arches, i sorted that oen though before adding the kit i had a bit on chassis under passenger side seatbelt mount, only tiny tho still had to be sorted for mot boot lid, tiny patch on the edge, dont know if anybody saw the post on ft.com remove the fuel bit and have a look under the plastic insert, im too scared to look on mine! |

as said above, but best way to get rid of rust on wings ect is new panels, this is wot i did ne way, did them my self as i work for ford was even cheaper. neil |

bottom of bootlid, especially if drainage holes are blocked!, bottom of doors, the seams where the rear quarter panel meets the boot slam panel, outer sills inner sills, footwells, arches..... etc etc etc oh and the sunroof drains are known to get blocked, rusting the roof away!(ouch!)check em and flush em out! why is it every mk3 has a nice patch of rust that doesnt seem to form on other cars? people say that the valencia (spanish) built ones are more likely to rust due to the quality of steel and the fact that they are stored by the spanish sea, apparently west germany is what your looking for! |

Mine has a little rust around the arches and some on the drivers side door seal. There's some really bad rust patches on the inside of the boot lid, down near where it meets the lights. Plus the rail under the bonnet in front of the exhaust heat shield. ![]() |
