thinks im gna get a knife later and attack me arches.. good or bad idea?

im not up for all this "measure from here to here" "execute a smooth cut with jigsaw"

i'd rather js get it done than fanny about with anything special..

Des - how much you do to your arches?
Scott - How much to yours?
And then of course the lowering master: Chop_suey - how much work?

i lowered mine 40mm with 16's rubbed quite bad. but had 45 profile. 40's would of been fine don't think this helps but never mind

Umm, i got the lip on the arch and whacked it with a hammer till it was bent up. took the arch liners out. then drove it like i stole it. rubs like a bitch on the Si. Do i give a flying fluck? At ?25 per tyre. No

After ?60 each for eagle f1's I will never go back, so much better to drive.

yeah but i have 185/55/14s :lol:

popular tyre and not low-profile. filthy cheep. They're Firestones so they're not crap!

That another reason I don't like 17's cost too much in rubber, I knew your tyres would be cheaper but i would have still expected closer to ?40 for good tyres.

Oh well its too late for me, I can't fit 14's over my brakes :lol:

I wouldnt go to 17s unless my car was huge. large family hatch size par example.

No arch work for me, only rubbed on full lock and large dips in the road at high speed, lowered 35mm.

However, now the Cossie splitter is on, it rubs like a bitch, but not sharp if ya get me, its like half of the tyre :lol:

right, i'm just gonna have to assume your putting on 2i arches, as without these i've got no idea how i would have got mine to work

right, hes a crappy diagram showing what i cut
(cross sectional view from the front)

look into the arch and you should see that nasty piece of razor metal. this almost sliced my first tyres in half

you may need to do a bit of diy arch rolling

i did this by fitting the wheels and suspention, jacking the car up and then lowering it back down with a metal tube trapped between the tyre and the arch( i used the inside of an axle stand)
then i just rolled it back and forh, professional i know.

then i just ran it for a few days, jacked it up and applied the golden rule.

IF THE METALS SHINEY, GRIND IT OFF

1 more thing, make sure you have 195 wide tyres. they make the world of difference

after i did all of thia i could fill the car with people and i never had the slightest scrub.

I got some rubbing on mine before, so just thought I'd see what others done. I think I got some rubbing anyway. Only on mahoooooooooooooosive dips in the road though.
