At what point does a full respray seem more economical?

I ask this because I have rust popping up around the passenger rear arch kit, only 2 spots about the size of a 5 and 10 pence peice.

And little spots along each light cluster seam on the rear of the car

The skirts/arches could do with being resprayed as they are stonechipped, and bumper got scratched by some tit so that could do with being done.

As well as all that the rest of the car is still on standard ford paint from new, and has some imperfections.

My mate reckons he could just repair the little bits, as a full repsray isnt worth it. As also he says we can rub the rest of the car down and polish it up, which removes the crap layer and looks near new again.

After all that faffing about it seems to me it would be as easy to do the whole thing?

Should I just get the little bits done, and try our best for the rest of the car to be made decent again with alot of polishing etc, and live with a near perfect car..

or get it all done?

depends on your budget mate, i would imagine that a full respray is ver expensive... i think if you can afford it, do it

if you want to keep your car for a long period of time then i think it's worth it definately (depending on current bodywork ofcourse)
*not for any economic reasons though*
i had mine sprayed and dont regret it. only thing i do regret is ramming it up the arse of some bmw to ruin it :frown:

I had mine re-sprayed and i loved it! Well i still love it now!
But it took me aaaaages to decide to get it done, kept thinking is it worth it? but then all the people that were telling me it wasent worth it were the people that spend like 5k a year on booze and fags ... now to me thats a fapping waste of money!!!

As said above, if you want to keep it id do it, and its worth it to see it sat on the stand at shows in all its glory, as sad as it is it gives me and warm happy feeling inside :red:

I shall see after looking into it abit more.. as I think the current paintwork (minus the few rusty or scratched bits) we can work with, by rubbing down and buffing up to remove any crap

My main concern is getting rid of any rust I find, to save it that little longer :look:

edit:

them pics I put in my rs1800 members gallery showing the random marks on the rs kit, I'm gonna give them a t-cut in the morning to see if it makes a difference to them, to save me having to spray them :lol:

i'm having my si resprayed in a few weeks its having a lot of work done to it and is gona cost me Ã‚Â£2500k :shock:

paul why dont you prep it first yourself and then get if resprayed will be alot cheaper if you prep it yourself if you can do it because thats where most of the time and moey goes for a professional to do it and then it will only be about Ã‚Â£400 to get it painted estimately
