I do agree with quite a few of them, some of them are unfair as developments and ideas came later, so saying an earlier model should have had features of a later model isn't right.

I mostly agree the ST should have been faster, its a great car but for a 2.0 its not really the best.

percy i agree on the ST, it coulddo with more power, but asa package is a great car, overall its a nicecar :)

summary points that annoy me though :lol: with myST

* Gearing is to short for crusiing
* Turning circle is huuuuuge!
* The niggle on the gearbox :rolleyes:
* Fuel consumption

but i do love it :)

Have you seen the differences between the MK3 and MK3.5 shells properly?

Bearly much difference.

Different mounting points on the floor pan. Door bars. Some little corner mounts behind the dash to "strengthen" the shell.

Not exactly reinforced is it.

You rolled your si.. and rolling a mk3 would have the same effect, maybe a few more dents in the doors. the roofs are the same, and the floorpan isnt going to effect anything. :) (so he says.. till he rolls the pickup, but that wouldnt be a fair test.. Ive got extra metal :lol:)

My C2 tells me I am getting 30.1mpg, may not be a fair comparison due to driving styling, journey types and how the computer figure it out.

I official figures put the C2 VTS and Fiesta ST quite close on the mpg which is suprising to say its 1.6 125bhp vs 2.0 148bhp.

we can bitch all day long about things manufactures should and shouldnt have done. every manufacturer has its own pony shit ideas and service scams. cars are built down to a cost. not upto a standard.standard power outputs are and always have been a compromise. there are remaps out there but those are more specific. the manufacturers come up with a set of standard parameters and thats what the car has from the factory. if every car lasted forever and was built to the same standards as your average nuclear bunker they wouldnt have a reccuring customer base. lets face it. say for instance metaphorically ford and vauxhalls market shares were both men. ford would cut his balls off if it meant cutting vauxhalls throat for market share so to speak. in some cases the ideas bought forward were not much better than the ones that they replaced. and in some cases worse.

its about who can push the most shit tins off the forecourt at the end of the day. once its sold the manufactures couldnt care less how much of a crap idea an automatically adjusting clutch ratchet is. once the warranty has passed. its retail work which is money in thier pocket in parts and or labour.

i accept i bought a car that is mechanically and technologically flawed by any modern standards. but fundamentally the MK3 is a 20 year old design..even when they made the mk3.5..that was about 15 years ago... so comparing that to something of a newer design isn't really an accurate comparison.

everythings always easy in retrospect. and lets face it if your cars were selling and you were making money. why change something that is working. and potentially lose sales or reduce your healthy profit margins


just airing some thoughts.
