well boys it looks like ive started a bit of a debate but to be honest it depends on the driver the distance of the race as well id say turbo beats the car off the line but the 1800 will catch up and maybe pass all depends on certain factors

Lets face it, the Turbo lump is better, 300 quids worth of parts will be at t3 spec, 300 would only just cam the 1.8 lol

Here's a totally standard RST graph.

Oh and just for very ROUGH reference.

RS1800

3000rpm - 60bhp
4000rpm - 78bhp
5000rpm - 105bhp
6000rpm - 127.8bhp
6300rpm - 125bhp

RS Turbo

3000rpm - 74bhp
4000rpm - 98bhp
5000rpm - 120bhp
6000rpm - 130bhp
6300rpm - 120bhp

So it really depends on the weight, gearbox ratios, etc, though the turbo has more power low and mid range.

The zetec would probably be able to pull better top end, but between gear changes and the boost kicking back in giving the power lower down the revs compared to the zetec, I would happily say the RST would have the edge.

Although in standard trim the MK3 RST probably weighs less than the MK3 and definately less than the 3.5 variant of RS1800. Which would give it a slight advantage.
