They reckon my insurance will go up to about £1500 for a year on my next policy as long as rates dont fluctuate too much (im currently at £1100 a year)

I noticed car tax rates have been cut by mr darling too, none of these massive hikes this april

And my policy doesn't finish until november, so my insurance doesn't go up until then

maybe one can keep the focus ST until then?

No your insurance is fooked you'd prob be better getting something else. Instead of high running costs and high insurance on a car your still paying for.

Even Mondeo TDCI with a remap.. mmmm lots of power and torque

no, i cant afrord it. and if i did get a remap it would be for MPG ahead of power. I do have a good idea of what can be had etc though

but thats another thread all together lol

imo it boils down too how much you really like the car?as i know you've wanted your focus for a while

now till november a fair way away so i reckon you could save enough in time, its about 10 months away so if you culd save £100 a month thats your 1k, all you'd need a little to top the 1k up!

i'm paying £1300 to insure the cossie at the mo , try and hunt around for better insurers while your saving see if you can save some money even tho you have those claims!

in light of the facts highlighted above by terry, keep it

VAG diesels are commonly known to be immense

theres a mk4 GT TDI gold in my road on 19s and it looks the bees knees, i bet its fast as fook mid range, and is probably amazing on fuel and reliable as fuck lol

also aren;t french diesels good?

i know my dads french (Literally ) megane scenice is bloody good on fuel and albeit a bit gutless, practical, surely it applies that french diesels are good?

VAG Diesel or French diesel would be a good bet, the ford diesels aren't bad by any shot and the ZS TDCI's do well, PF this month a standard one hit 125bhp on the rollers

in max power a few years back they had a GTI 1.8 T and a GT TDI and did the same mods to both:

*Exhaust
*Air Filter
*Remap

and the petrol made 201 bhp and the diesel 200bhp

but the GT TDI had over 350lb/ft torque
