Basically the tread on the focus tyres is quite low and mytyres are having another 5% discount do so am looking to buy.

Now I want a tyre which are good all year round and won't wear quickly, its not a racer so don't need all out performance, but I don't want cheap hazards on there.

The cheaper the better of course.

I need 225/45/17 buy the way.

Any advice/experiences?

ive never used them myself so cant properly comment but from what others have said is that the rubber is quite hard compared to other brands of only slightly higher cost!!

its the NS2's you have to look out for as they are full directional tread pattern!

i have recently bought a pair of infinity INF-05's for £80 inc delivery from ebay (205/40/17) and to be fair they are quite good, tried them in the wet and so far they are far better than full directional budgets like the ns2's and lower down. they have a similar patten to the dunlop sport sp 9000's. i have also tried the neuton nt5000's again from ebay from a company called neo brothers, i went there myself to get a set of 4 215/45/17 tyres fitted and balanced and fitted to the car, came in at £215 all in! it looks like a breakers yard when you get there just full of saabs but the company itself is really good and very friendly service! the tyres themselves are extraordinary in a good way, they grip consistantly, luckily i had the tyres put on before all that snow came down in december and they just gripped through the snow very well, in rain, the grip is so much better and dry is very very good, similar to having dunlops on the wheels just grip everywhere didn't even get tyre squeal going round corners!! something to consider there matey plus tread wear is quite hard as well so they'll last a good couple of years!

Just looked up the NS2's, how about the NS20's look quite a different design.

a 1.6 (98bhp) focus, its not a racer so don't need all out but don't want it to be a death trap.

well heres a set of four infinity INF-05's for less than £180!!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-NEW-CAR-TYRES-2 ... 45f236bdb8

then you got these ones as well:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/225-45-17-WANLI-9 ... 2306f5d7f1

very good pattern tread

they are the only ones i can find that are less than £200 i do vouch for those infinity's though even though they are directional tyres they have good grip ratings. may not be known well on the market but i know they are good!

but if you can stretch to a 215/45/17 tyre instead then neuton tyres do a really good set and i can vouch for these tyres as well. plus they have rim protection lips on them as me and a few of my mates have had these tyres and all of us say that the grip is seriously superb! but price has gone up since the vat increase of course i got the set fitted for £215, but they are now priced at £201.84.

heres the link:
