The Saxo 1.6 8v has KandN and backbox

My 1.4 si has xr2i engine 1.6 8v has a 4-2-1 manifold, KandN, de CAT, stripped out rear seats,

Who would win on a straight?

i reckon xr2i.

my 1.6 si with induction kit and stainless sports cat back system cant beat a VTR never raced a xr2i tho

well if yours cant i dont think mine would because the xr2i is 1.6 8V, and your 1.6 si is 16V ent it?

xr2i 1.6 cvh 108bhp 0-60 8.9 seconds.
vtr (97 spec) 90bhp 0-60 9.9 seconds.
vtr (99 spec) 98bhp 0-60 9.1 seconds.

as with any car it varies though and you've got torque and handling to consider.

The TU engine in the VTR responds well to breathing mods, filter and exhaut can add around 10bhp on a, i got 20bhp from a Filter, exhaust and manifold on my Rallye.

I'd say it would be equal, if not with the VTR a tiny amount infront.

At a guess a Saxo will be a newer engine and may not have lost as many ponies with time.

Can come down to drivers, gear changes, power bands etc.

As for the straight line, won't be much in it really, but if you see a corner you will start seeing the back of a Saxo.

well rob dragged with one on a dual carriageway in his 100k xr2i with exhaust and induction kit and the vtr had exhaust and induction kit and it was neck and neck upto 100mph, but i was in robs car, the vtr just had a driver

and xr2i's handle well enough

never mind the 2i getting rare, i havent seen a mk3 at all in ages. would think it would be fairly even, as mentioned driver skill can make or break it.

i'll stick my neck out and say the 2i assuming your not running 18" alloys or something daft like that. Reason being i've had many a tussle with vtr's, and in honesty on most occassions the Si has won. 1 occassion i didn't was when the vtr has a backbox/filter (lol), but i went past him at 70........
That said, it really can vary...as said above, gearing/powerband has alot to do with it. Saxo will almost certainly win to 30/40mph.
