yea, i did.

a few little rattles (didnt hear the susp) here and there (its a fiesta lol).

No knocking from engine, but oil was freshly in, so was well hidden. Brakes worked fine (although i didnt realise how worn), and it worked fine.

many thanks to mattyboy for making contact with the seller!

this is what came out of it:

"Suspension, radiator and loom - He wasn't aware of the suspension rattle and appologise's, the loom and rad he did say he had put the bolts in for the rad and wires he just said oh! In all fairness, it was just poor workman ship and a rushing of jobs!

Brakes - The brakes where changed when he bought the car 7 months ago so i can only pressume that driving 30 miles round trip to work on a motorway has caused the pads to wear stupidly fast!

Engine- This shocked him, as he did a bottom end rebuild a couple of months ago, there was a slight rattle/tap and he thought this was the cat rattling or that there was a sticky lifter, he did do an engine flush and oil change the day before and used high miliage oil (maybe why it was thick)

But i can only put it down to poor workman ship again maybe! "

I have responded appropriately, via pm, my thoughts to these responses.

I think most of the problems where caused by just blaten (sp?) lack of workmanship and rushing it! :rolleyes:

I'd like to add, i've gone through a set of pads in 2 months. must've got a bad set. but it shows it is possible. the pads i gave him were genuine ford pads.
also with the engine, series 1 zetec engines can suffer with sticky lifter which can cause a slight tapping noise, nothing serious. which IIRC is what Andy thought it was so he did an oil change and used 15w40 castrol GTX for high mileage engines. which it would appear this engine has done.
whilst i am not agreeing with the condition of the vehicle as it was sold to you, following a thorough inspection prior to buying would've highlighted the majority of these problems.
as far as i am aware a proper and thorough test drive/inspetion was not carried out

i bought my si from a (local dodgy) garage and it was RAPED!! everything that could've possibly broke did and i made me very sad, just shows a proper inspection and check over in the daylight is essenstial when buying any motor,
the bloke is a gammon for blatantly ripping you off with a crap engine covered up with thick oil
