I'm planning on giving my engine a nice clean, had visions of polishing it with rags, but my mate told me to use a pressure washer (with the engine running to make sure it will still work).

Is this a good idea or not?

Anyone tried this before?

ive done mine 3 times i use gunk degreaser using abrush leave it for 10 minutes or so then get the pressure washer out, i always cover up the battery with a plastic carrier bag and other stuff like chrome and parts where u don't want to take the risk of ruining as the degreaser can damage paint work but its well worth doing gunk is the best stuff to use it does a real good job on mine :) [/b]

I might cover up the battery and air filter, and give it a go. My fuse/relay box is under the bonnet aswell so I'll cover that up too.

Afterwards I'll put some WD-40 on the nuts, bolts etc to stop them rusting.

cling film up the battery and filter then give it a blast,
gunk=big orange bottle halfauds/motor factors
