Ok, i went to mallory park last year with a group of friends, and we have decided to go to the next ppc (august). However, last time we went, we were all on different sessions, so didnt really get the chance to 'race' each other. arguments ensued, with budgets etc (people saying but you can afford this so will beat me anyway).

this time around, we have £250 to spend. only rules are it must have mot, no 'mates rates', and no using parts/cars you already have. plus whoever makes the best/funniest looking car gets free breakfast. So, what would you do? im thinking ax gt, uno of some sort, anything old and light. suggestions please! i was going to go with a 2.0 si, but i dont think my budget will stretch

also was thinking an old 1.5vtec civic, but they seem to of shot up in price

itll be a track car (for the day) and then scrapped or sold, so im thinking two things.

option A:
light car (ax, uno etc) with a more modern engine (anything 100hp or thereabouts); but cant see that coming in under budget.

option B:
an old luxo barge (vectra v6, old saab turbo, volvo 5 pot of some sort), strip the granny out of it and hope the huge engine negates the weight difference.

have a look in the sheds section on pistonheads theres some decent cheap cars there ive been lookin cause i need a cheap car for a year or so thats got a bit of power

106 XSi if you can find one, 1.4 100bhp and great fun

Mine cost me under £250 but that was a while ago and is long gone now

paul, that seems to be the best idea so far! so far my mates have bought a volvo 940 wentworth (2.0l turbo) and a fiat bravo 1.8 16v (115bhp), so i either need a t5, hot saab, or something mega light. waiting to see what the rest of them turn up with.

what about a volvo 740 2.3 suprisingly fast for there size and torquey strip 1 out and it would be a nice track wepon and lighter than the 940 plus they do a 2.3 turbo i had an estate version proper fun cars to get the arse end out.
