Kind of like the fact that it will be able to take note of if the car's insured or not, so insurance companies can't hide behind un-insured vehicles causing insurance prices to rise, but again Big Brother is making an appearance as ever.

However there is a big WhoHar(?) about coucils removing most of their camera's now so how many of this may make an appearance...

I'm all for catching people who drive illegally. But in terms of being able to catch tailgaters, that could prove a bit of a problem, which stems from what I had noted in my post about driving habits that annoy me - the people who slam their brakes on and do 10mph LESS than the speed limit.

Imagine you are coming up to one of these speed camera's, do the speed limit, with plenty of gap between you and the car in front. Said car is one of those twats who thinks it's required to slow down to 10mph less. They slam their brakes on, which means you are then closing in quick and have to slam your brakes on too. The car behind has to slam their brakes on, the car behind that, the car behind that etc etc, all to avoid unintentionally tailgating. This could cause accidents more so than normal cameras in my view. The roads near me are soooo busy at times, if they get these camera's, it's going to be a nightmare.

Otherwise, yeah, fucking right - catch the wankers driving with no tax, insurance, MOT, seatbelts!

The insurance companies won't do jack though - they'll carry on charging what they want and hiding behind other excuses.

It does look to be a step in the direction of Big Brother, how long before these camera's are at most junctions...?

Its abit much innit? I cant see how any machine can fairly decide whether tail gating is happening.

I doubt the tailgating feature will be proven to work in the real world, but the rest of it crack on.

On another note, does anyone know if the Average Speed Cameras on the A1 D2B upgrade are working? Cause Im getting sick of the 20 miles of 50mph twice a week now

in france the speed camers are about 5ft tall and 4ft wide so if you get caught you are a lemon

Getting a bit pathetic now tbh. why not stick average speed cameras on the end of each road, that calculate your speed, tell you how to drive by emailing it to a PC in dash, tell you not to tailgate, etc etc. What are traffic cops for?
