just seen on a forum i used to go on a boy is selling his cat c black zetec-s ive met him in person and seen the car in last years ford fair and its very clean he's asking about £1300 for it just had a brand new mot and its going in for its vic check, got some added extra's like bluefin chip st170 brake upgrade and some little exterior mods overall its a very clean example and ive always loved zetec-s's but ive seen the damage and it can be seen here were he had a rear ender and it bust the bumper and creased the boot floor also in the pic it shows some overspray which he says will be gone before the buyer hands over the cash so what you think guys? heres the link.

as a rule people say dont buy anything thats had a crash but if you trust the work done on it then its up to you.

it was off the road for a few years but now its taxed again.

it was bent to hell. and full of filler.

Some are shocking, but it tends to be newer cars being cat-c'd that are horrid, usually because of the higher repair costs compared to the value of the car means something is really bad, yet something that is older and lower value can have a wing and a door bent to be written off as the high repair cost for insurance purposes get's it cat-c'd, yet it'd cost a tiny fraction in diy terms.

Just goes to show, Cat C's can be fine generally, but the quality of the repair work has to be there, which sometimes it isn't.

I think if people knew how many unregistered crashed cars were out there that were Cat D or worse, it would put a few of buying used cars full stop if they shudder at the thought of repaired minor cosmetic damage :lol:

Yet again true, its ends up my C2 has been in a crash, purely cosmetic damage from the look of it, only found out the wing wasn't original after the accident I had.

That's the thing, you never know if a car has been in an accident and repaired anyway, without it being declared on the insurance.

My first Si was cat D after an old bloke pulled out in front of me, but there's no way I was driving it again after it had been in a shunt. The force of the impact was quite bad, got whiplash and bad back (which I still suffer from now), and yet it was only cat D! Shame really as that Si was the cleanest I've ever seen, no rust anywhere, mint bodywork, totally standard.

All depends on how bad the car is.

I would happily go for a cat c is nothing was stupidly bent out of shape.

I've had 2 CAT C cars now, one being my 5 door Fiesta, which was CAT C'd for front end damage.. And the RS1800 shell was a CAT C, for a rear quarter.
