An autobahn would kill speeding big time I reckon, It would give people a place to test there cars instead of constantly wanting to try and get faster and faster on a standard 70MPH motorway where people change lane randomly. I've seen it happen and i've had people fly up behind me because of it!
There are a lot of factors with speeding, its never going to go away, and there are so many different views and opinions.

yeah exactly an autobahn is deffenatly the way to go because your restricted to a certain speed you have to go beyond it. were as if you have an unrestricted bit of road then it wont be such a big thing and a lot more people will respect the 50 and 30mph speed zones.

I also think they are used to collect coin.

However, I very rarely speed, maybe 76 in a 70 but thats about it.

I do 30 in a 30 and 40 in a 40.

I have a clean license (I did have a car asbo once a few years ago!) and its quite easy to maintain where I live.

I have read that there arent that many accidents on the autobahns compared to the speed restricted motorways. I think it is so easy to slip over 70 on a long drive, most cars tend to settle at around 80. I can simpithise with the 30mph limit though because i reckon the difference between that and 40 is big when it comes to hiting a pedestrian, i couldnt live with myself if i run a child over.

Ok keep the cameras! Was doing 70-80 on my 5 hour drive and near the end some tests in abush over the hill I was doing 80 to get upthe hill and lifted off at the top I'm unsure as to whether they take the speedo orsat navigation speed I know they don't do. You for 79 & under but all depends on my speed a whenever I was zapped lol three days to find out

i was watching a program and they tend to send a ticket to people doing over 90 on the motorway . . . unless its a fixed camera then its 70+.
the way i see it because i was thinkin about this today, for me personally i only really drive my car after 5pm at the earliest during the week as im at work all day in my van which i usually stick to the limit so by the time i drive my car all the camera vans have gone home, iv seen them dotted around and they arrive about 10ish in the morning and go about 4ish in the afternoon and thats every speed camera van iv seen give or take an hour. So the point im making when im most likely to get caught by the bastards they have gone home where as a fixed camera is there 24/7 so get rid because iv actually hit the brakes when iv noticed one in a place iv never been before whether i was speeding or not just to be safe, i know it wont be for the car behind but the thing i fear the most is losing my license as its my job so its an automatic reaction.

government is never gonna stop on the motorist, its like that link you put up about the teg driver, i know he did wrong and injured someone but he didnt seem a "bad" person but you could be a rapist, thief, etc and get less time than him.
